Channel Characteristics for Diffusive Molecular Communications in a Spherical Shell

چکیده
Diffusive molecular communication (DMC) is a bio-mimicking communications paradigm that exploits the Brownian motion of dedicated information carrying molecules for signal transmission. The characteristics channel in DMC system heavily depends on transmitter and receiver mechanisms, medium propagation its boundaries, way they interact with molecules. In this work, we investigate spherical shell, inner outer surfaces which may be partially or perfectly absorptive, reflective, where either boundary can considered as receiver. These geometry conditions used to model variety practically relevant scenarios, are investigated detail. We derive general parametric solution partial differential equation case provide, first time literature, expressions resulting response. verify results our analysis numerically via particle based simulations.

Channel Impulse Responses in Diffusive Molecular Communication with Spherical Transmitters
Molecular communication is an emerging paradigm for systems that rely on the release of molecules as information carriers. Communication via molecular diffusion is a popular strategy that is ubiquitous in nature and very fast over distances on the order of a micron or less. Existing closed-form analysis of the diffusion channel impulse response generally assumes that the transmitter is a point ...
متن کاملNon-Coherent Detection for Diffusive Molecular Communications
We study non-coherent detection schemes for molecular communication (MC) systems that do not require knowledge of the channel state information (CSI). In particular, we first derive the optimal maximum likelihood (ML) multiple-symbol (MS) detector for MC systems. As a special case of the optimal MS detector, we show that the optimal ML symbol-by-symbol (SS) detector can be equivalently written ...
متن کاملSCW Codes for Maximum Likelihood Detection in Diffusive Molecular Communications without Channel State Information
Instantaneous or statistical channel state information (CSI) is needed for most detection schemes developed for molecular communication (MC) systems. Since the MC channel changes over time, e.g., due to variations in the velocity of flow, the temperature, or the distance between transmitter and receiver, CSI acquisition has to be conducted repeatedly to keep track of CSI variations. Frequent CS...
متن کاملDiffusive Molecular Communications with Reactive Signaling
This paper focuses on molecular communication (MC) systems where the signaling molecules may participate in a reversible bimolecular reaction in the channel. The motivation for studying these MC systems is that they can realize the concept of constructive and destructive signal superposition, which leads to favorable properties such as inter-symbol interference (ISI) reduction and avoiding envi...
متن کاملStochastic Channel Modeling for Diffusive Mobile Molecular Communication Systems
In this paper, we develop a mathematical framework for modeling time-variant stochastic channels in diffusive mobile molecular communication (MC) systems. In particular, we consider a diffusive mobile MC system consisting of a pair of transmitter and receiver nano-machines suspended in a fluid medium with a uniform bulk flow, where we assume that either the transmitter, or the receiver, or both...
